Wednesday, July 29 : Of course the rain continued all night long, the dark morning sky didn't look like it would ease up any time soon and the temperature had dropped below 10C (50F). So we put on the rain gear again and rode over to our favorite breakfast place where we spent the next hours waiting for the rain to stop. But it actually just got worse, so around noon (when none of us could drink any more coffee) we just rode back to the campground, locked the bikes and decided to go to Inverness by public transportation. There we spent the rest of the day in the Jacuzzis, hot tubs and saunas of the Inverness Spa. Later that night we followed the recommendation of a cab driver and had a few drinks and quite some fun at the 'Oldies Night' in an Elgin discotheque before way past midnight we hired a cab to drive us back to the campground.

Thursday, July 30 : After another stormy night we figured the bad weather might stay in this area so we packed our stuff and left Lossiemouth. We took the A96 towards Inverness from where we continued on the A82, running along the western shores of Loch Ness, and by the time we reached Drumnadrochit the rain really stopped!!
We visited Urquhart Castle, continued on A82 and reached Fort Augustus at the northern end of the Caledonian Canal (which connects Loch Lochy and Loch Ness). We found a nice looking campground just outside of Fort Augustus, but although we could see plenty of available space they wouldn't let us stay... The girl at the front desk mumbled something like "All booked up", but I think the real reason was one of their policies they'd posted in hughe letters to the front door:
"No parties of the same sex with more than two people allowed!"
WTF?? Anybody heard of such a stupid rule before???
Well, we just continued A82 for a few miles and found another campground in Invergarry. We put up our tents and went for a nice b4-dinner-ride, following a very small single track road along the river Gary, up to the dam at Loch Quoich. At that point it had started to rain again, so we turned around and headed back to Invergarry and the local pub for dinner.
