Before Ann and I left Broadfield Manour, she had offered
me the couch in her appartment for the night and I gladly accepted. We
drove to Shaker Heights in pooring rain, and it hadn't stopped when I left
again next morning. I took I71 towards Columbus and after maybe an hour
the rain stopped, but that didn't lasted very long. Due to the rain I didn't
covered lots of ground that day and finally got so soaken wet, so somewhere
halfway between Columbus and Cincinnati I got me a Motel room.
From there I called a guy who had sent me an email
a few month ago. He had searched the internet for his last name and found...
me!! Mails went back and forth and we found out that we even might be related!!
His great-grandfather emigrated from Danzig-Germany to the USA in 1900.
My fathers family is coming from the same area, and we know for sure that
at least one brother of my great-grandfather emigrated to the USA too,
also in 1900!! Considering that our last name wasn't very common at all
back then, I think chances are pretty good that we really are related!!!
Anyway, I called cousin Bruce and he gave me directions
to his place, where we met next day (June 4th) around noon.
During this day and the next I had the pleasure
to meet not only Bruce' wife Pam and his daughter Heather, but also his
parents and his in-laws and many other of their relatives and friends.
We had lots of fun, and after a very short time I really felt like beeing
with family. So nice people, we gotta be related!! ;-)
The next day I left them around noon, heading towards Indianapolis.
Bruce' parents Phyllis and Don live there and they had invited me to stay
for the night. We all visited Bruce's brother
Dale in his shop
, went out for dinner and had a great time.
Friday June 6th. came, the day I've been looking forward
to for so long. I left Indy in the morning, took I70 west, then I55 north
for a few miles, went off at exit 43 and there it was:
