The next day's goal was Albuquerque, NM. I had talked to Donnie Frank the day before and told him that I'd be at his 'House of Harley' that day. I40 brought me all the way from Flagstaff to Albuquerque and around 6pm I pulled into Donnie's driveway. Like all the times before, it was great again to shake hands with a fellow digester. Donnie showed me the place and where I could crash for the night, I unloaded my bike and then we rode to his band's rehearsal, Donnie on his 450cc Honda ;-) I had a fun time listening the guys play, afterwards we cruised around town a bit and then returned to the HoH.
After we had dinner at a Mexican place, we went to a bar
where Donnie's buddys from his former band where playing. These guys were
good, but when Donnie took over the drums for a few songs, the place really
rocked :-) Outstanding performance of the 'Immigrant Song', dude!!
Wednesday, June 25th, we went for a nice
cruise through the Sandia Mountains and had lunch at a cool place out
in the woods. Later we picked up Mona and rode out to Jemez Springs. We
stopped at some really amazing
places and then, after a little hiking
we relaxed for a while in a natural hot spring. ("You folks up there wearing
any clothes, we're coming up with some kids!?!" %-)
On our way back we got pulled over by a cop (Hey Inch,
that's the only time I got pulled over on this trip!! :-) Well, we might
have been going a little bit fast, maybe 85 in a 60... But the cop was
probably thinking about the paperwork nightmare he would have if he'd write
that damn foreigner a speeding ticket, so he just gave us a hearty "Well,
you guys better slow down now!!" and let us go.
We went back to Abq., stopped at that bar again, had a
few beers and a Tequila (ok, two...) and I got to hear the Immigrant Song
once more. What a great day :-)
