From New Mexico to Texas
On Thursday, June 26th around 7am I left Donnie and Mona and took off
towards Dallas Tx. I was one day behind my schedule, but since originally
I had planned to do Albuquerque - Dallas in two days, I saw the chance
to pick up that day right here.
It was kinda chilly that morning when I hit I40
east but around noon it was nice and warm again. In Amarillo I went south
onto I27 and when I reached Lubbock, I had to stop under a bridge and wait
for a nasty thunderstorm to pass. From Lubbock I followed Hwy84 south,
onto I20 and from there it was a straight shot east into the Dallas area.
All in all an uneventfull ride and 12 hours and 750mls later I'd reached
my folks' place in Cedar Hill.
I stayed in the Dallas area until the 4th of July. During
that time I just hung around at friend's places and pools, went from one
party to the next and from one BBQ to anotherone, my buddy Brad and I took
the boat out a few times, in other words: vacation!
Once I rode out to
AardvarkCycles
in Lucas to see Marc and order a new rear tire. While I was
there, a guy approached me and asked "Are you Fritz?" It was the E-man
from Plano, I still don't know how he'd recognized me ;-)
On the 3rd I stayed at Jane & Matthew's place in Allen.
Jane had just found an abandoned puppy which she decided to keep and she
called him Fritz. Later that evening Red came over
and Gaybeth too, we had a great dinner (Steaks!), lotsa beer and we partied
all night 8-)
I said goodbye to Jane and Matthew the next day around
noon and rode over to Plano where my dear friends Ernst and Ann-Marie were
having a 4th of July party.
