Sunday, July 26 : We went back onto M1, up to Newcastle from there we took the A696 and later A68 through the Border Forest Park and into Scotland. Well, right there at the scotish border it became pretty cold and it started to rain, a kind of weather we didn't really expected but that we had to get used to in the next two weeks :-(
We continued A68 through pouring rain and cold winds until we reached the A720 going around Edingburgh. Due to the cold and the rain none of us felt like camping that day,so we looked for a Bed&Breakfast place in Queensferry. We found a place right at the shore of the Firth of Forth, and from our room we had a georgeous view of the Forth Railway Bridge.Monday, July 27 : The weather still wasn't the best but at least it had stopped raining when we left Queensferry this morning. We took M90 which led us over the Railway Bridge's counterpart, the Forth Road Bridge, up to Perth. From there the A93 brought us right into the Grampian Mountains. We had a great ride through amazing scenery, the kind we had in mind when we had planned this vacation. Still following the A93 we came through Blairgowrie, Bridge of Cally, Spittal of Glenshee and Braemar, before we left it somewhere near Balmoral Castle. From there we stayed on small backroads, sometimes just very small single track but still great roads! We came through beautiful villages like Tomintoul, Glenlivet, Craigellachie and finally arrived in Elgin. In a Tourist Center we looked for a campground and the one in Lossiemouth right at the beach looked like a nice one. How could we know that the Royal Airforce resides right next to it ;-)
