Saturday, July 11 : Ernst and I took off for our summer vacation, accompanied on this first leg of the trip by our fellow Digester Eicke. Since we had the strong urge to get into warmer climates asap, we just took the Autobahn all the way down to Basel, Switzerland, where we arrived in the late afternoon at the Spring residence. AdriAn and Andrea had already invited us to stay at their place for the night, and so we did. Together with Adrian's brother Sven we all went for dinner, had some fine food and lotsa beers before we finally called it a day.

Sunday, July 12 : In the morning Adrian, Sven and their Dad joined us and we all had a great ride in beautiful weather through the swiss Jura. Later in the afternoon we split, the Spring's heading back home and the three of us continuing towards France. We pitched tents on a nice campground somewhere close to Marigny. It was the evening of the football (soccer that is!) worldcup finals, in which France played against Brasil. We watched the first half of the game in a nearby restaurant, and later in our tents we could easily tell which team had won the worldcup ;-)
