I left New York via Staten Island, caught a glimps of Manhattan
Island and took I287 into New Jersey. When I reached junction I287 and
I78 I left the Interstate and cruised the backroads for a while. Later
I called Inch and he gave me directions to his place where we met around
5pm. Dave(?) and Jay Wahler also showed up, and when Jay offered to be
the designated driver for the night (it was raining anyway), we all went
into NYC in his wagon to meet up with Steve Manes and Jeffrey Hicken. It
was an absolutely hilarious night, we had losta fun and a breath taking
ride through Manhattan in Jay's "Luv Makine" ;-)
Next Day, Inch took me for a great ride through
beautiful New Jersey and Pennsylvania countryside. We stopped for a beer
at Jack Houriet's place, cruised a little more and went for dinner at a
nice little restaurant. Of course, Inch wouldn't leave without our cute
waitress' phone number... How did the date went, Inch? ;-)
The next morning, Sunday June 1st, I left Inch's place
around 10am. I took I80 west up to DuBois and decided to take Hwy219 and
Hwy6 through the Allegeheny Nat. Forrest up to Erie. It was a nice ride
in the beginning until it started to rain. Not to bad at first but real
bad when I reached Warren. I continued for a little while and finally stopped
at a small Motel in Mayville, NY, app. 40mls east of Erie. By that time
I was soaken wet, despite the rain gear I was wearing. The lady at the
front desk kinda smiled at me when I asked for a dry place for my bike
and a room for myself (in that order). She called her husband and he offered
me to put the bike into his own garage (at no charge). And when he opened
the garage door, sure'nuff his own nice Shovel was parked in there, and
I knew I was in good company :-)
After I'd hung up my wet stuff to dry, I called
Ann, Eddie's Mom. We talked for a while and we arranged to meet next day
around noon at Eddie's place in Broadfield Manor.
(For those of you who don't know Eddie, please follow this
Link to Eddie's Homepage , but don't forget to come back)
When I took off in the morning it was still raining like
mad and it hadn't stopped when I reached Broadfield Manor. I parked the
bike and went in to visit Eddie...
